Overview: 7 day Tour from Fes to the north and Merzouga Desert

On this 7 days tour, you will discover Morocco’s northern cities and the south Sahara desert from Fes.The journey will start from Fes, then head to the imperial city of Meknes. From there, we move to the ancient Volubilis Roman ruins. Next on the journey is crossing the Rif mountains to reach the blue city of Chefchaouen. Later, we will continue to the current capital of Morocco,Rabat city.Followed by the economic heart of Morocco, Casablanca. And the red city of Marrakech. In addition to that, we will drive through the Majestique High Atlas Mountains to cross the famous Pass of Tizi n’Tichka before reaching the UNESCO world heritage site of Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah and the so-called ‘’Hollywood of Africa’’, Ouarzazate. Following that, we will pass by the Dades and Todra gorges to reach Merzouga Sahara Desert.Here, you will enjoy a camel trek and the spectacular sunset / sunrise in the desert, in addition to spending the night in a luxurious desert camp.Later on, we will drive through the charming Ziz valley before reaching the Cedar forest and Ifrane city.After that, we arrive in Fes to drop you off to your desired location.

Itinerary

Day 1Fes > Meknes > Roman Volubilis Ruins>Ouazzane > the ‘’blue city’’ Chefchaouen

Your 7 days itinerary starts on an early morning in Fes. After meeting you at your location, the journey takes us to Meknes, an imperial city that offers many beautiful places for its visitors. Places like the tomb of Moulay Ismail, Royal Stables,The Granary…etc.Then, enjoy a delicious lunch before heading to the Roman ancient city, where the UNESCO world heritage site of Volubilis ruins still tells stories from Roman history in Morocco. Afterwards, we leave this historical site behind us, heading to the northern city of Ouazzane and the blue city of Chechaouen through the magical Rif Mountains. After that, we will spend the night in a comfy hotel here in Chefchaouen.   

Day 2A walk in Chefchaouen> Exploring Rabat : Hassan Tower > Mohamed V tomb > Kasbah of Oudaya

The next day begins with a tasty breakfast, then you will take a walk in Chechaouen to explore the city’s sights like the Medina and its calm alleys that are painted in blue which makes them a perfect place for pictures. After your tour in this blue town, we will make our way to Rabat, an imperial city with a rich history that still serves as the capital of the country. The city offers beautiful sites to explore like Hassan tower, Mohammed V tomb, and the ancient Kasbah of Ouday. Oudaya Kasbah was built for the purpose of defending the city years ago. We then spent the night in a traditional Riad. 

Day 3Rabat > Casablanca : Hassan II mosque > Cornish > Pigeon Square> Rick’s Cafe>, Marrakech

After waking up, a Moroccan breakfast will be served.Then, the road takes us to Casablanca, the biggest city in Morocco and its economic capital that has awesome sites to explore. Starting with Hassan II grand mosque that attracts visitors from all over the globe, because of its unique Moroccan architecture from both inside and outside. After that, you will take a walk along the Cornish where locals and tourists enjoy the views of the Atlantic ocean. Next, we will visit Mohammed V Square or ‘’the pigeon square’’ as the locals call it. And Rick’s Cafe that was inspired from the film Casablanca although it was not filmed there.Afterwards, we resume the journey towards the red city of Marrakech. Following your arrival, you will have time to wander the famous square of Jamaa El-Fna. The heart of Marrakech in which you will see snake charmers, enjoy a mixture of traditional music, Moroccan traditional food…etc. From there, we head to your Riad to spend the night .  

Day 4A day in Marrakech : Bahia Palace > Ben Youssef Madrassa> Old Medina> the Market > Jamaa El-Fna> Kotobia Mosque>Majourel Garden>Gueliz

Today is dedicated to the imperial city of Marrakech. After your breakfast, you will meet a knowledgeable local guide that will show you the main attractions of the city. Starting with Bahia Palace, an architectural masterpiece which reflects Morocco’s royal history.Then, Ben Youssef Madrassa, an old Islamic school which was influenced by the Moroccan-Andalusian rich architecture. From there, we head to explore the old Medina of Marrakech along with its vibrant Market / souk. A UNESCO world heritage site where you will find artisans make and sell their goods while wandering through the narrow and crowded alleys that will lead you to the famous square of Jamaa El-Fna, where you will watch snake charmers, street performers, traditional music and so on. Not far from here, you will appreciate the beautiful Kotobia mosque while standing outside of its square. Later, you will recharge your energy with a delicious lunch. In the afternoon, you will meet with your driver again to take you to explore the stunning Majourel Garden which requires booking online before going there.Then, passing by the modern area of Marrakech, which is Gueliz. Later on, we head back to your Riad to rest and reflect on your Marrakech tour.

Day 5Marrakech > Tizi N’Tichka pass> Ait Ben Haddou> Ouarzazate > Skoura > Roses Valley > Boumalen Dades

The following day starts with breakfast before leaving Marrakech behind us.The journey then takes us through the High Atlas Mountains to pass the winding road of Tiz n’Tichka, in which we will stop to enjoy its charming landscapes. From there, the journey continues to the UNESCO world heritage site of Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah that has appeared in many films and series , such as Game of Thrones, Cleopatra, The Mummy…etc. Afterwards, we will move to Ouarzazate. Where you will have a delicious lunch before getting on the road to the famous Roses valley through the palm groves of Skora oasis. From there, we reach Boumalen, a small town in Dades valley where you will enjoy a tasty dinner and spend the night.

Day 6Boumalen > Dades Valley > Todra Gorge> Touroug > Tinjdad > Merzouga > Camel trek > Desert camp

Today will start a hearty breakfast in Boumalen.Then, we head to the Dades valley to explore its fascinating landscapes before continuing to the jaw-dropping Todra gore. Here, you will enjoy the giant mountain canyon of Todra by walking along its river. Following that, we will move forward along Touroug and Tinjdad’s palm groves. Along the way, we will stop for your lunch break.

After enjoying your lunch, the road takes us to the main destination of the day, Merzouga Desert. As the sun sets, we will arrive at Merzouga so that you switch to camels that will take you across the sandy dunes of Merzouga to appreciate the amazing sunset in the Sahara Desert. After this sunset break, we will continue to your Desert luxury camp, where a delicious Berber dinner will be served while listening and dancing to the Saharan Berber music around the campfire under the sky of Merzouga, in which you will enjoy a magical stargazing experience.

Day 7Merzouga Desert > Rissani > Erfoud> Ziz Valley> Midelt> Cedar Forest > Ifrane > Fes

On the last day of your 7 day tour, you will have to wake up early if you want to catch the charming sunrise of Merzouga Sahara Desert. After that, you will have your breakfast, then head to Rissani, where you will take a walk in its large traditional Market that usually takes place every week on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday. Following that, you will visit the fossil town of Erfoud. From there, the journey takes us along the charming Ziz valley, where you will enjoy its stunning views in a short break before continuing to Midelt, in which you will have your lunch.Afterwards, we will make our way to the famous Cedar forest that is home for hundreds of monkeys. Later on, we will resume the journey to ‘’Switzerland of Morocco’’, Ifrane city. A beautiful town in the middle Atlas known for its cool weather due to the heavy snow falling in the winter. After a while, we will arrive at the imperial city of Fes, where your 7 days tour concludes with a drop-off to the airport or to your accommodation in the city.
