Overview : 8 day tour from Casablanca to the Imperial cities and Merzouga Sahara Desert

Travel Morocco from the north to the south in an 8 day itinerary. On this tour that starts from Casablanca, you will have an authentic cultural experience and visit many beautiful destinations around Morocco. Starting by exploring the main attractions of Casablanca and then head to the capital city of Rabat.From there, the road take us to the Blue city of Chefchaouen and the Roman city of Volubilis.Later on, we will visit Meknes before continuing to Fes. Moreover, we explore Ifrane and the Cedar forest on the way to Rissan along the Ziz valley.Not far from there, we will also visit the fossil town of Erfoud and the magical Desert of Merzouga in which you will ride camels and spend the night in a desert camp in addition to witness the sunset and the sunrise in the middle of the sandy dunes.Afterwards, we make our way to the fabulous gorge of Todra and the charming Dades valley.Soon later, we will move forwards to visit the ancient Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou and The Atlas Studios in Ouarzazate.Last but not least, we will drive through the famous pass of Tizi n’Tichka that is located in the High Atlas Mountains to reach Marrakech, where a knowledgeable guide will show you the main historical sites of the ‘’Red city’’. Then, we will take a scenic drive towards Casablanca and drop you off to your desired location in the city, to officially finish your 8 day tour in Morocco.

Itinerary

Day 1A day in Casablanca : Hassan II Mosque > Pigeon square > Rick’s Cafe > Corniche of Casablanca

The first day of your 8 day itinerary in Morocco, will be spent on Casablanca in order to visit all the historical sites of the city. The tour starts with a pick up from your accommodation or from the airport. From there, you will head to the famous mosque of Hassan II. An iconic Moroccan masterpiece built partly over the Atlantic Ocean which makes it perfect for some photos. In addition to that, the mosque is the largest in Morocco. And since it is open to non-muslims, you can enjoy its intricate and unique interior design that reflects Morocco’s rich architecture. Afterwards, we will move forwards to Mohammed V, a vibrant square where locals and tourists spend their free time. Later, we will visit Rick’s Cafe, inspired by the film Casablanca. Next, you will take a walk in Casablanca’s Corniche along the Atlantic Ocean among the locals and tourists. Soon later, we end the day in a comfortable hotel in the city.

Day 3“blue city” Chefchaouen> Roman Volubilis Ruins > Meknes > Fes

After waking up among the charming mountains of Chefchaouen and having your breakfast, you will have time to walk in the alleys of Chefchaouen and explore its beautiful sites. After that we will continue the journey towards the ancient Roman city of Volubilis.A UNESCO world heritage site that still holds stories from Roman history in Morocco. In this Volubilis ruins location, you will find mosaics, old houses, religious buildings…etc. Later on, we will continue to the imperial city of Meknes in which you will visit places like Bab Al-Mansour, Royal Stables, Sahrij Souani Basin in addition to the Tomb of Moulay Ismail. After a while, the road leads us to the cultural city of Fes, where we will spend the night in a comfy Riad.

Day 4A day in Fes: Golden Royal Palace Gate> The Mellah > Borj Sud > Pottery & Ceramic workshops > Old Medina> Al Attarine Madrassa > Al-Qarawiyyin University >Chouara Tanneries

The fourth day of your 8 day tour, will be spent on exploring the cultural city of Fes.

Firstly, you will take a driving tour that starts from your accommodation towards the golden Royal Place Gate, a huge gate that has a unique design which makes it perfect for photos. Not far from there, we continue to the Mellah, an old Jewish zone in Fes. From there, we move forward to Borj Sud, a place which overlooks the old Medina of Fes and provides charming views of the city. Afterwards, we will drive to the famous Ceramic village in which artisans of Fes make their fascinating products like Zellij, hand painted designs, tables and so on. 

Secondly, you will also take a walking tour with an experienced local guide inside the alleys of the ancient Medina of Fes. A UNESCO-listed site that offers many beautiful sights. Such as Al Attarine Madrassa in which you admire its charming design and discover the way students were studying inside this historical masterpiece. After that, we will pay a visit to the oldest university in the world which is Al Quaraouine University. Later on, we continue to Chouara Tanneries where they still dye the leather using old techniques. Soon later, we will head back to your cozy Riad after spending the day exploring the historic landmarks of the cultural city of Morocco.

Day 2Casablanca > Rabat > Ouazzane > ‘’blue city’’ Chefchaouen

The second day of your 8 day tour across Morocco, begins with a delicious breakfast before leaving Morocco’s economic capital. The journey will take us along the coastal road from Casablanca to the imperial city of Rabat and the current capital of Morocco. Rabat offers beautiful and historical sites like Hassan tower, the tomb of Mohammed V and the ancient Kasbah of Oudaya. After visiting all these amazing places, you will have your lunch in a local restaurant. From there, we will resume the journey towards the north of the Moroccan Kingdom, to reach Ouazane city. Soon later, we make our way to’’ the blue city’’, Chechaouen, which is located in the charming Rif mountains. A blue painted town, known for its calm atmosphere and its mountain charming views that makes it perfect for some pictures.In this’’ blue pearl’’, you will spend the night in a cozy hotel.

Day 5Fes > Imouzzer > Ifrane > Cedar Forest > Midelt > Tizi n’Talghamt pass> Ziz Valley> Merzouga> Camel Trek > Desert Camp

As usual, today will start with a tasty breakfast before leaving this beautiful city of Fes towards Imouzzer and then ‘’Switzerland of Morocco’’ Ifrane city. A lovely town in the middle Atlas that attracts tourists because of its low temperature and its European Alpine-style houses. In addition to the calm atmosphere that is hard to find in other cities. From there, the journey continues to the famous Cedar forest near Azrou, in which you will find Barbary macaques playing and climbing the trees while wandering the forest. After a while, the road leads us to Midelt where a delicious lunch is waiting for you. After that, we will resume the journey to cross the stunning pass of Tizi n’Talghamt and drive along the charming Ziz valley towards Merzouga Desert. Along the way, several breaks will take place to enjoy the landscapes and take some photos.

In the afternoon, we will arrive in Merzouga village, where the camels are waiting to take you on a memorable trip across the sandy dunes of Merzouga Desert in order to enjoy the magical sunset of the Sahara desert. Afterwards, we will resume the trip to reach your luxurious Desert camp where a Berber desert dinner will be served around a campfire. Here you can also listen and dance to the traditional Berber music or enjoy stargazing in the Sahara Desert of Merzouga. 

Day 6Merzouga Desert > Rissani > Erfoud > Touroug > Tinjdad> Todra gorge > Dades Valley

After spending the night in the Sahara of Merzouga, you will have to wake up early if you want to admire the magical sunrise in Merzouga Desert. After that, a desert breakfast will be served before continuing the journey to Rissani, in which we will visit its large traditional market. Later on, we will make our way to the fossil town of Erfoud in order to visit its workshops. From there, we drive along the palm groves of Touroug and Tinjdad, passing by small Berber villages and other towns to finally arrive in Todra valley. Here, you will visit the fabulous gorge of Todra where a river has formed its way between the high mountain cliffs of the canyon.The thing that makes it a charming natural masterpiece in which one can relax and walk along the river to take some pictures while enjoying the beauty of Todra. After a while, you will have a delicious lunch in a local restaurant around the valley before resuming the journey towards Dades valley, another fascinating destination in which we will stop to enjoy the so-called ‘’Monkey Fingers’’, a famous rock formation in the area of Dades.And an overlooking viewpoint of the valley.Then, end the day in a cozy hotel where a tasty dinner will be served.

Day 7Dades Valley > Kelaa M’gouna> Skoura > Ouarzazate Atlas Studios> Ait Ben Haddou> Tizi n’Tichka Pass > Marrakech

The seventh day of your 8 day tour will start with a hearty breakfast in Dades before taking a ride to charming Roses valley, in which the festival of Roses is held in May of each year. In Kelaa M’gouna you will find all the Rose-related  skincare local products.Products like creams, soaps,oil…etc. Afterwards, we will continue our ride along the palm groves of Skoura oasis to reach ‘’Hollywood of Africa’’, Ouarzazate in which we will visit the Atlas Studios to see how the films and movies are being made. Later on, we will resume the journey towards the UNESCO world heritage site of Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah that has appeared in many international films and series. Such as Game of Thrones, The Mummy, Gladiator and so on. In addition to that, it offers stunning landscapes and charming views to enjoy. From there, the journey leads us to the majestique High Atlas Mountains in which we will stop for a lunch break. After that, we continue to cross the famous and winding pass of Tizi n’Tichka towards the red city of Marrakech. Along the way, several breaks will take place to enjoy the landscapes of this region. Soon later, we will arrive in Marrakech in which you will spend the night in a traditional comfy Riad.

Day 8Marrakech > Casablanca > airport or your hotel

The last day of your 8 day itinerary begins with a warm breakfast in your accommodation. After that, the road takes us to the starting point of your tour which is Casablanca. Along the way, many breaks will be made to enjoy the charming views before reaching the economic capital of Morocco. Following your arrival to Casablanca, we will drop you off to your desired location, whether to the airport or to your accommodation.
